From the clinic

The provided services

The clinic provides specialist eye examinations across the entire spectrum of general and specialised ophthalmological care. Emphasis is placed on an individual approach and precise examinations using modern ophthalmological devices with the subsequent provision of an accurate diagnosis, the aim of which is to deal with any eventual ophthalmological abnormalities or diseases and to recommend suitable treatment. If an acute surgical procedure or an additional examination using specialised diagnostic devices is necessary, we will arrange the provision of the necessary care at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Military University Hospital in Střešovice or at the Thomayer Hospital in Krč.
  • examination of short and long-sightedness
  • examination of colour perception using a modern LCD optotype
  • examination of any refraction errors (refraction error measurement) using an auto-refractometer with the precise designation of the spherical or cylindrical correction using an automatic phoropter and a digital LCD optotype
  • keratometry (measuring the curvature of the cornea)
  • pachymetry (measuring the corneal thickness)
  • examination of the anterior segment of the eye and the optic media (assessing the stage of cataract advancement and any indicated surgery)
  • examination of the posterior segment of the eye using direct ophthalmoscopy or indirect binocular opthalmoscopy with a slit lamp
  • examination of the anterior chambre angle (gonioscopy)
  • biomicroscopic examination of the posterior segment of the eye
  • measuring intraocular pressure using a contactless or applanation tonometer
  • examination of the oculomotor balance and binocular functions
  • examination of the retina and the optic nerve using optical coherence tomography (OCT)
  • measuring the dioptric values and the UV permeability of your current glasses or contact lenses

The Vitreoretinal (Retinal) Outpatient Department

The vitreoretinal (retinal) outpatient services are provided by Dr Kateřina Myslík Manethová, FEBO. The clinic’s modern equipment enables the diagnosis and long-term monitoring of any retinal diseases. If the patient’s condition requires a surgical or otherwise invasive procedure, we will arrange for preferential care to be provided at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Thomayer Hospital in Krč or at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Military University Hospital in Střešovice. We are able to offer patients with certain retinal diseases, for which there is currently no effective conventional treatment (especially age related macular degeneration or diabetic macular edema), the option of inclusion in clinical studies organised by leading international pharmaceutical companies at given intervals.

The Diabetic Ophthalmologic Outpatient Department

The diabetic ophthalmologic outpatient services are provided by Dr Kateřina Myslík Manethová, FEBO. We deal with the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of all eye disorders associated with diabetes. This especially involves diabetic retinopathy which is a condition of the retina caused by damage to the fine retinal blood vessels due to high blood sugar levels. This can lead to a loss of sight, if not subjected to thorough compensation, long-term monitoring and treatment. Glaucoma and cataracts are frequent complications for diabetes sufferers. We deal with any conditions requiring a surgical or otherwise invasive procedure by preferentially booking the patient in for the appropriate procedure at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Thomayer Hospital in Krč or at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Military University Hospital in Střešovice.

Our patients should be aware that the examination may require the application of eye drops which can result in blurred vision due to temporarily dilated pupils. We do not recommend driving during this period.

By telephone on

MON – FRI 9 am – 4 pm

By email at

info@retinka.cz

By filling in

the form

Each patient receives an appointment for a specific time and will be examined at that time. We therefore request patients to arrive at least 5 minutes before their appointment time. We optimally recommend arriving within an interval of 5 to 15 minutes before your appointment. At the same time, we would like to point out that a patient who arrives after the beginning of his or her appointment may not be examined and may be rebooked for a later time, because starting the examination late would have ramifications for the timely examinations of those patients with subsequent appointments.
